We are all headed to spend a day at the river (which turned out to actually be the beach) with the kids from Arms of Love, but of course so much more ends up happening than simply getting into a car and going straight to the destination. It’s some thing I will never take for granted once I am home to just get in a car and go some where, but it is also some thing I know I am going to miss.
No memory is really made getting in your car simply to drive to Target five minutes down the road. Getting in a vehicle made for twenty-five people though and fitting thirty-five makes memories, especially when you get lost.
As the seven of us girls on team KYLO looked at a yellow mini bus we had to squeeze into with 25 other people already inside, it appeared impossible. Of course, it wasn’t impossible, as I sat on a speaker and another girl sat on the ground against the door. This is how life has become though, squeezing into vans about to ride in a vehicle on an endless bump filled road for 3 hours.
Though this situation can appear to be a not so pleasant one, it honestly is what you make of it. These moments, the moments where the least expected happens, are the moments that have made this year of experiences around the world worth it to me. Not to say I haven’t had my ends with 56 hour bus rides, but I can say I will never forget that treacherous bus ride in Mozambique that took 56 hours.
The non boring moments that this life has to offer are the moments I want more of. In the grand scheme of it all, It’s about not forgetting. It’s about always living in each moment as the last and looking beyond what you feel the status quo of comfortable is. In a few weeks I can pile my family of 7 in our suburban and sit comfortably, but once I am home when will I have the opportunity to pile 35 people in a mini bus to go swim at the beach in Nicaragua?
So keep living life looking for those non boring moments. Say ‘yes’ to the adventures you know nothing about and see where they take you.
