F R E E D O M
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17
All my life I have been taught
about freedom in Christ.
And, no one lied to me about
that freedom. Its there.
But, few were quick to follow
up their insightful teaching
through their lives.
There’s so much pressure in America
to be more, do more, have more that
people become so bound in shackles
they don’t even realize
what those feel like anymore.
People become comfortable.
Complacent.
Before I left for training camp,
I had slowly become numb to life around me.
There was so much going on that I couldn’t
even keep up to think straight or feel right.
I went through moments of feeling,
but the daily struggle was
complacency.
Numbness had become my silent enemy.
All it took was a slew of new
for the Lord to awaken me from my deep sleep,
to take me to places I’ve never been.
All of a sudden I was surrounded by
people with the same agenda in mind:
becoming more like Jesus in every step.
And it was there where
Abba took my exhaustion
and turned it into true rest.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
He took my sadness
and turned it into fulfilling joy.
You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes
of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever! Psalm 30:11-12
He took my control
and turned it into trust.
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according
to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that we
who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:11-12
He took my shackles
and gave me F R E E D O M.
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
Ephesians 3:12
