Yes I've been singing Jai Ho too much here already… India= cool. Also, every time I introduce myself I am sure to say that I'm from Indiana, which is where I obnoxiously emphasize that the word India is in it.
It's been so nice to be here and rest a bit- we have really cool contacts(Thelma and JoJo) who are our age and really easy going. Our first day here they took us to get Indian clothes, which makes me look like I'm wearing a giant loin cloth. I feel awkward as I sport long spandex tights underneath the loin cloth that bunch a crunch at the ankles making me look like a Clydesdale horse… I guess it's cool that I have Indian threads.
Cricket's big here- I don't understand this sport at all, but it brings me right back to elementary school president's physical fitness test shuttle run…interesting and hilarious when India wins the Cricket World Cup and we're lost in the city for hours only to be included in the celebration with a car full of crazed fans bumpin to Backstreet Boys.
All I'm saying is, I'm meant to be in Africa and God's way confirmed it for me- Last night we went to the most American church I've been to on the race so far- it was really cool and the pastor was urban-esque with long hair don't care and a tattoo- just reminded me of church back home with a worship band, projector, sermon, etc…anyway, there were a bunch of Ugandans and Rwandans there- plus, I've heard several African songs here, which is nuts that these dang Indians have been randomly singing them. Just cool to get a taste of Africa even when I'm back in Asia.
Glad for the change, though, because it forces me to get up and get going more. I realized that I wasted a lot of time wallowing in Africa and it was the place I love/feel most comfortable- don't want to do that with the rest of this year and I think the change was good, so here goes nothin…at least I love curry.
