About a year ago, I began to consider actually applying to this thing called the World Race but life got in the way and I knew that as much as I wanted to pick up and go, God kept telling me not yet.  So instead of applying I poked around the website, read some racer blogs, and took this short little multiple choice quiz.  Just for fun.

The results popped up on my computer screen that night and said “Way to Go…You have exactly what it takes to be a World Racer.”  My first reaction was – of course I do, I was made for this!  I was ready to pack my bags and leave the next day.  But then I stopped and thought there is no way you can know that about me from just 8 questions.  I mean I can go online and in less than 2 minutes take a quiz to find out “Which State I Really Belong In” or “Which Disney Movie Is Most Like My Life?”  but this is not scientific research, folks.  It’s purely entertainment and the World Race quiz was no different – it entertained an idea of backpacking across the world while sharing the love of Jesus.  But this little exercise was also God’s reminder that the real answer to the quiz was not yet – a reminder not to rush into this, but to trust in God’s perfect timing.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him” (Psalm 37:7)

For the remainder of the year, I was obedient in waiting and now I can confidently say that I do have exactly what it takes to be a World Racer – a calling from God, the strength of Jesus Christ, and the support of my loving family!

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”  (Psalm 28:7)

I thought it would be fun to look back at the initial quiz results so here they are…as you can see some aspects of the race will come naturally to me where as others will be quite a challenge!
