I have discovered that writing blogs has become a difficult task
for me… not that I have nothing to write about, it is just difficult to
summarize what has been going on into a blog or two. Yesterday was a good
realization day for me though. My team and some teens from La Quinta walked
through the barrio close to us and prayed over it, and just asked the Lord to
be there and bless the people. When we got to the end of the road we walked
over to a dump/cemetery.

(which, as a side note, there is a 12ft wall between the road and
the cemetery and Danielle and I convinced Cody to jump off of it! It took a
little while but he did it and it was awesome. Proud of you Cody! lol.)

Back to the point of
this blog, we all walked over to the dump area and there was a family searching
through the trash for anything they could use or eat. They waited for a new
load to come to be dumped, and when it came they went crazy looking for
anything that would be beneficial to them. As I watched this happening I was
hit with a realization of man, this is real, these people rely on this dump as
their food and clothes source. I felt so convicted because I was just saying
how I wanted to be “free” for a day to drive around and just venture out on my
own. What about those people that would love to be free from not having the
option to go buy what they need. To be free from the fact that they only get
what they find, and they sleep where they can. I saw the same thing last month,
but yesterday it really struck a nerve with me. I was talking with Cody about
this on the way back to our ministry site, and he pointed out the fact that
even if we went and fed those people in the dump, they would continue to go
back to the trash because that is what they know. It really spoke to and broke my heart.

            I
also walked through the cemetery for a little while, and looked at all the
headstones. Some of them had Jesus on the cross over their grave. I couldn’t
help but wonder how many of them genuinely knew Christ. How many of them are in
heaven with their father, and how many of them rejected Christ and are now
separated from Him forever. How selfish is it for those of us that are
believers to not share Christ with literally everyone we meet. I mean eternal
separation is no joke. It is not something to take lightly. Christ could return
at anytime! How many will be ready? Are YOU ready? We have to take the kingdom
seriously. SO many people still need to hear the gospel. Christ has called us
to go to all the nations. So let’s, as Nike would say, JUST DO IT. Praise the
Lord for giving more time for those of His children that still don’t know Him.
