Malaysia has been the most different as far as ministry goes. The population
is about 90% muslim. The government is freedom of religion, but it is illegal
to speak to muslims about Christ. You can’t have a bible that doesn’t say,
“not for muslims” on it. If it even appears as if you are attempting to covert a
muslim you can be arrested. We had a few trainings on how to evangelise to the
muslims without getting into trouble. We went on many prayer walks around the city,
and before service each wednesday night.
Being in this muslim culture has definitely convicted me. I am here in Malaysia,
willing to go out and evangelise, even though it’s illegal. In the states, I can
go up to anyone, any religion, and talk to them about Christ without any real consequences. How often do I take advantage of that? The answer is, not enough! Yes, I talk with my co-workers, and people at school, and sometimes even a stranger that God gives me a word for. It’s not enough. Sometimes is not acceptable. Every person I come in contact with should hear about Christ one way or another. Now I am not saying that I should be going up to every single person I see and scream at them to accept Christ. But I SHOULD be seeking God’s voice in every situation. I should be in constant communication, so that when He is telling me to witness to someone I hear Him clearly and am able to obey.
Maybe you’re thinking, Duh Amber! It says so in the bible. I am aware. lol. I have known as well, but God has given me a new revelation of this principle, and a new heart for his children that don’t yet know Him. My prayer is to witness to at least one person a day. To further God’s kingdom in a mighty way. He has called me to go to the nations to declare His truth, share His love, and to be His hands and feet. I want to be that! And being here in Malaysia has restored that desire.
