4ft tall, cute pink and purple sweater, and wrinkled like a raisin. This is sweet little Claudia, a 92 year old woman living in a barrio near where we live. Our team went with 6:8 ministries to go feed the people in the barrio and play with the kids, and pray over the place. The first person we meet is sweet, little Claudia. She invites us into her home, and we talk to her for a little bit. We notice her right hand is severely swollen, and her fingers were bent in different directions. When we asked her about it, she said it was very painful and that she had developed bad arthritis over the years. We all glanced at eachother quickly and in unified agreement asked if we could pray for her and her hand. She, without hesitation, said yes and bowed her head. We layed our hand on her and began to pray… we finish, the swelling has gone down. We pray again…finish, the swelling is gone and her fingers are more straight. We all pray a third time (more people have joined in praying at this point) and after we were done her hand didn’t hurt anymore, she could bend her fingers, and the swelling was completely gone. She began to cry and praise God for the healing that just took place in her life. It touched my heart to see her genuinely praise God. She has the sweetest spirit, and most open heart. We sat down with her and got her some food, and just talked for awhile. We discovered she is the equivelant to the barrio mother. She has lived there her entire life, and her heart aches for the kids and adults there that have lost their way and are not following Christ and have given their lives to drugs and prostitution. It was so encouraging to know that those people have someone praying for them and looking out for them. I saw the heart of Jesus in Claudia that day. 🙂
