Hey Friends!

As promised, here is my vlog from the event my team and I hosted in Ecuador for Venezuelan refugees. Here is some more info about it:

Why are Venezuelans leaving their country? The Venezuelan economy began to collapse in recent years even though at one time Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America largely due to it’s oil reserves. The Venezuelan currency has dropped so low that most people are unable to afford basic necessities. Basic necessities are precious commodities now due to the economic collapse. For instance, one meal could cost a person three weeks of their salary. There is no way for people to be paid because the money is worthless. You could find Venezuelan lawyers or doctors who are now homeless. The country has increased in turmoil and violence as people have become desperate. Therefore, many are fleeing Venezuela in hopes of a better future elsewhere until the country is more stable.

The last month of the World Race, God put it on several of my squad mates’ hearts and myself to host a free medical clinic/event for Venezuelans. In the US, big events are quite common; however, abroad in many countries an event like this is not. My Venezuelan refugee team had an idea of what we were hoping the event would be like. God had much bigger plans and opened so many doors! God put us in contact with all the right people at the right time (because we really didn’t have much time, approximately 3 weeks to pull this off in a country none of us had ever been to and we didn’t speak the primary language.) At the event, we had ten doctors, four dentists, lawyers giving lectures about information on passports, visas, Ecuadorian IDs, HIV testing, diabetes research, TV and radio station, games for kids, face painting, free haircuts, expressive dance, skits, free food, a bounce house, and etc. Around 2000 people came to the event!! It was a HUGE success. So many people were encouraged and equipped.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. God was able to touch so many lives while my squad and I was on World Race. None of that would be possible without you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I hope you are doing well. Remember you are so loved by Jesus and keep your head up. 🙂

Love,

Amanda
