Tomorrow my team will begin our month of ministry in Kenya. We will spend the next three weeks in the city of Oloolaimutai inside the Massai Mara Game Reserve. We will be working with a Pastor who runs a school, church, and medical clinic. That is literally all the information we know right now. Honestly that's about all the information we know most months heading into minstry. Haha.
But I've heard that in the Massai Mara tribe, boys are sent out at the age of 14 to prove their manhood and slaughter a lion! Who knows if this is still a common practice, but I already heard a rumor we may have the chance to hunt lions on one of our rest days. Just life on the World Race.
I have included a picture of some of the people that make up the population in the city. The Massai people are known for their appearance: streched-out ears, long necks, holes in their lips, and very little clothing. They are also known for their MAD jumping skills and supposedly during church services, they jump during worship 🙂 🙂 We have also heard how friendly and welcoming these people are. I can't wait to get to know them, see what their personalities are like, and hear some stories behind the infamous "Massai" name.
One of my teammates has been to the Massai Mara Game Reserve before. He says the stars are incredible and it's one the most beautiful places he has ever been! I've also attached a picture of Massai Mara at sunset that gets me really pumped about our location!
Needless to say, I'm pretty excited to see what my Father has for His children this month!
