when i look at the financial support that has been raised so far i am blown away! i can see God's faithfulness in action as friends, family, and strangers continue to sacrificially donate to my 11 months overseas. i have been so encouraged by the community around me loving, encouraging, affirming, and supporting in so many unique and beautiful ways.
i wanted to give a quick financial update so you know where i am and what i still have left to raise. each world racer has to raise $15,500 to cover travel, lodging, and food for those 11 months. currently, i have $9,070.12 in my world race account! that number is unbelievable. so many people have contributed to that amount through one-time donations, monthly commitments, t-shirt sales, etc. now there are several friends who are partnering monthly, which means they have committed to giving a certain amount every month through the end of the year. that adds a projected $826 to my final amount. therefore it's safe to say that right under $10,000 has been committed thus far!
as many of you know, i had a yard sale this past weekend and have been selling t-shirts the past month to raise more support. i cannot thank everyone for their donations to the yard sale. it went great! my family and roommates worked so hard to get everything ready and to sell as much as we could. honestly, it looked like wal-mart in our front yard. we were able to sell around 2/3 of what we had and whatever was left was either donated to goodwill, salvation army, or Emma's House (a future safe home in Durham for teenage victims of human trafficking). at the end of the day, when all the cash, checks, and coins were counted we raised right around $1,800 at the yard sale! we couldn't believe it! this was such an unbelievable blessing!
as i mentioned the amount i have to raise for the world race only covers travel, lodging, and food. there are a number of other expenses that i still have to pay for out of pocket in order to go overseas. some of these expenses include: travel insurance, vaccinations, and gear. these costs add up really quickly and it's easy to project an additional $2,000 at least will be needed to fund these purchases. therefore we are currently keeping the yard sale money in my savings account and hoping this cash can be used to cover these necessary costs.
all this to say, my world race account is about $5,500 away from being fully funded! that's incredible and makes me so excited. for all of you who have donated in whatever way thus far, thank you! thank you so much for giving sacrificially so i can go overseas to speak and show the love of Jesus.
and for those who are still wanting to give, it's as easy as clicking the support me tab on the left column on this page or sending in a check to Adventures in Missions P.O. Box 534470 Atlanta, GA 30353-4470 (please include my name on the bottom of the check). also we still have about 20 t-shirts left for sale in medium, large, and x-large! i am asking $20 a piece for the shirts and $15 of that goes directly to my trip!
as usual contact me if you have any questions. thanks again! so much love for each you.
