Fundraising is not fun. It is awkward and uncomfortable to approach people and ask for money. It feel obnoxious to post a million times about the same things. And yet it happens.

I’m guilty as much as anyone else is. It’s so much easier to like a post or worse just ignore one about fundraising than it is to actually do it. In a world where bills need to be paid and the latest fashion trend amounts to 10+ hours of your paycheck, money doesn’t always stretch. The Starbucks adds up and the pedis get logged away as a “rare treat” that “just needed to happen.” I do it. Shamelessly. There is something comforting about sipping on a white mocha while someone scrubs your legs with orange goo. BUT, I also honor God with my finances and give to Him first.

One thing that I’ve learned time and time again is that God won’t bless what you don’t give Him to work with. If you don’t trust Him in your relationships, He won’t bless them to thrive. If you don’t trust Him with your job, He won’t help you grow toward your next promotion. And if you don’t trust Him with your budget, He won’t multiply your means.

When I get stuck in my own head, the enemy loves to tell me that I’ll never be able to raise this much money and that I should just call my mobilizer and cancel the trip. What do I think about that? He’s right. I can’t raise the money on my own. But I know someone who can. God doesn’t bring you to an obstacle that He can’t bring you through. He will make a way when there is no other way.

If you want God to multiply your finances or ANY area of your life, you have to first be willing to give up control and surrender it to Him. I encourage you to pray and search your heart for any areas that have become idolized in your life or have gotten in the way of your faith. Allow God to take control of those areas and watch as He restores the things that you once thought were broken beyond repair. I’ve seen Him do it and I know He’ll do it again.
