I like singing, dancing, playing air guitar like nobody’s business, drenching my scrambled eggs with Valentina hotsauce, creative writing, indie worship music, all things Disney, and pretending that I’m not obsessed with Halo Top ice cream.

I think that beauty can be found in every aspect of life if one is courageous enough to look beyond the facade that fear can create. I can lose myself in nature and do, often. There is nothing quite like filling up your lungs and praising God when no one else is around. I think the world needs more time to slow down and appreciate the simple things. Playing in the dirt and making mud pies. Stomping in puddles. Pausing in the middle of a walk to breathe in honeysuckle. Building a snowman…or if you’re from Texas a very small, very sad mound comprised 80% of grass and dirt.

Many people have called me old fashioned. I value hard work and dedication. I come from a large family and learned at an early age how to get along with pretty much anyone. My family always taught me to be ambitious and to follow my dreams. I grew up in a household where you respected your elders, said yes and no ma’am, and wore pantyhose and a dress to church on Sundays.

I was sitting in church one Sunday when I was about 6. It was missionary day and I was listening to the amazing adventures that God had taken so many people on. That was the first time that I ever clearly heard God speaking to me. I knew He was calling me to the mission field. It wasn’t until years later that I knew that He was also calling me more specifically to work with orphans and children. After surrendering to His calling, I began to see doors open and opportunities to grow. I’ve experienced so much growth in the past few years and can’t wait to see where God takes me with The World Race!
