While in China, we went toWhile in China, we went to a lot of places where we had no contacts, no ministry, nothing to do but walk around and pray. This was something our team struggled with as when you're languagely challenged, have no place to spend your time or pour into, and are just walking around praying for the communities, there's not always a ton of fruit. Or, at least not the kind of fruit you're used to seeing in general.
In my life, I've never considered myself to be good at praying. Yes, I understand that my words are heard but there are some people who pray for things and things happen. I've never felt that I was one of those people. And no, this is not a blog telling you that I have become that person. SO, when you're ministry is to walk around a city and cover that city in prayer when you're not one of those 'I pray and things happen' kind of people, it can be a little discouraging. That's basically what our month consisted of. We didn't have an official ministry contact, and we weren't in one place all month. We travelled around the country side of China &Tibet [Tibet was taken over by China, which I'll explain in another blog soon – but you should research it yourself!], spending large parts of our day walking around and silently praying for the people, places, and community. It was intense.
One much needed lesson I've learned through reading the Bible and listening to sermons is the fact that God is everywhere all the time. That's one of those things you know but never really think about, at least for me. But, it's the truth; He is everywhere all the time. Another point that's been instilled in me is that prayer is powerful and changes the atmosphere of a place. It's a very tangible way to love a person or place, to bring God's power to a place and make change happen.
Psalm 139:7-12
Where shall I go from your Spririt? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, 'Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,' even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bring as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
God is everywhere. He sees and knows everything. Yesterday, today and tomorrow God is there. It's hard to understand that He can be everywhere when we cannot be, that He is outside of time and scope. Being such finite beings, it's nearly impossible to understand, but it is how it is. There is no place, no time, no instance, nothing that God doesn't know, where God isn't. In other words, nothing surprises God.

Nothing surprises God. There's nothing that we do, that we think, hope, wish or dream that He doesn't know. How intimate he is with us! It's such a beautiful concept and so comforting to know that we're never really alone even when it feels that way, that Christ is literally always with us no matter where we go or how we try to get rid of him 🙂
