Now what?! Now I'm able to rent a car and not have to pay an underage fee. And purchase cheaper car insurance (for whenever it is that i get a vehicle…) Yep. Life is falling into place now. And I only had to wait 25 years for it to happen.
Psych. I spent February 27th celebrating my 25th birthday with 16 of my favorite people. I woke up early for a skype date with Rebecca, who lives in China teaching english. Then I was escorted down to the house to enjoy my breakfast feast of delicious, made from scratch, pancakes (which were also made to belatedly celebrate Fat Tuesday [or pancake day as the Brit calls it]). After breakfast, we just hung out as a team and did some ministry work. I made lunch and then I was told that I would be going into town that afternoon. I went with Dusty & Mi Hai to pick up Chrin & Sara, our squad leaders, who are with us until we go to Bulgaria. On the way there, Mi Hai and his friend, who also rode with us, went to talk to some men about some goats. Unfortunately, they came back empty handed…
After picking Chrin & Sara up, we headed back to the house where my cake was in the process of being made. I went to my room to wait it out for a little bit, then came out a few minutes before dinner to play Dutch Blitz (except that they call it a differnent name [which I'm blanking on at the moment] and just use regular decks of cards) && EUCHRE!! After dinner was served, I got to blow out the candles of my chocolate, rum & gummy bear cake. Which was DELICIOUS! Yum yum yum! So good. I smile just thinking of it. : )
After cake, we went to the main building to play Sardines (which is like reverse hide & seek. 1-2 people hide and everyone else has to find them). So much fun. I hid the last time with Raquel and we were not found by anyone other than Da-da who cheated. The kicker this particular night was that we played in the dark. In the big house which has 4 stories, probably 50-60 bedrooms and so many places to hide. Under the beds, on top of the beds, in the dryers, on the balcony, in the shower, the list goes on.
After Sardines we went back to our house to play Never Have I Ever, extreme style. You ask a question, anyone who has done this thing has to get up and switch seats. The person in the middle has to ask the questions and then try to run to a seat. After the game was done some of us just sat around talking. When I went to my bed I had cards from everyone and a new bible! When we were leaving Mozambique, in the shuffle and craziness of it all, I lost my bible somewhere along the way. So, in South Africa, I was given a Gideon's New Testament bible that had all the books of the new + Psalms & Proverbs.
Fun fact:: As of today (3 March) I've read the entire NT, 1&2 Samuel, 1&2 Kings, Daniel, Psalms, & Proverbs since the beginning of this year. My goal is to finish the OT before May. It's so interesting to read through the OT – there's so much crazy stuff that happens. I enjoy it, though. 🙂
So, that was my birthday. Who knew that I would be in Romania to celebrate. or that I would be on the WR in general. So much has happened in my first 25 years, I can't wait to see what happens in the next set!
Thank you all for the birthday love and the well wishes!
With love, blessings & a grateful heart,
Amanda
