There are burdens that are far too heavy and a lot of times we feel that burden most when we look in the mirror. The burden is nothing other than..wait for it…. myself.

Somehow along this road I have seemed to completely change the plot to the real story. I am this small weak warrior that the world expects to fight off all these battles. I feel exhausted in my own attempts to be good enough for others and for God. I see all these areas in my life that I want to glorify God in, but just can’t seem to stop messing up. If I can rearrange my heart and clear out the dust, I could be so much more useful to God. But I hurt people around me. I fail to praise when my heart hurts. I am just tired of waking up to disappointment.

“Hey Amanda, look at me. Look at my hands”

Then it clicks. Why is everything centered around what I am able to do or what I’m not able to do? I feel like Satan is clouding my head just enough so I can believe that my intentions are good. But little do I know that when I believe that I am not forgivable, I am belittling the true power of the cross.

Maybe it shouldn’t be about what I am able to do.. but about what already has been done.

See, we should have this insane hope because the victory is won. We don’t fight to win, we fight because Jesus won. He calls us to accept His victory, but not to prove ourselves. Any trials and burdens that I take from now on, not that they won’t be hard, but they shouldn’t be heavy! Because His burden is so light and any fear or sin in us, He died for already.

We fight from acceptance, not for acceptance.

We fight from victory, not for victory.

The burden to win, should never be on us because Jesus paid it all and thats why in the middle of a battle we can sing our song of victory. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. Thank you Jesus!

The Race of Faith

Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
