This month for the first time since we left America we have free unlimited wifi.

We are in our first week and I am already struggling with it.

Connectedness is something we all crave. We are relational as humans, we long for attention and to be connected to one another. The internet has made connectedness ridiculously easy and convenient. Anyone and everyone we need or want is at our fingertips and our culture has made it so we are supposed to be available at all times.

So when we got to our ministry site and I had all I could want, as far as connecting to home goes, I indulged. I reverted back to my home self. In boredom or free time I check instagram or facebook, I cling to this hope the internet gives me.. some reassurance I am not forgotten.

This makes me kind of sick.

I came on the race to die to self, to give up comforts of home, to disconnect.

Don’t get me wrong I want and need to touch base with my loved ones. I should share pictures and stories of what God is doing in the nations.

But.. that’s not what I am doing. I am using the internet as a crutch, as a comfort.

When I think hard about it, this craving for connectedness to people we have is exactly what God feels for us.

God is craving and jealous for connectedness with YOU and me. He wants relationship. He wants intimacy. He wants all of us.

I confess I have let you, my loved ones at home and my connectedness with you come before God. I have put that comfort and peace of mind that I am not forgotten above the only reason I am doing the race.

What stirs your soul? Is it a great conversation at Starbucks with a friend or sister? Is it getting noticed on social media? Whatever it is seek God and know he wants great conversation with you, he wants to be noticed by you.

I can’t wait to share more with you this month, becuase I know God is going to do a work in me- but I am committing to only using internet to post blogs and on our off day, Mondays.

For Lent I am not giving up anything, I am adding something. I am going to specifically seek connectedness with God over people and I can’t wait to tell you how it goes.

This month my team is living and serving at Covenant School of Worship in Hyderabad, India.
