My psychiatric health nursing professor opened class one day with the statement that we all act out of two emotional motives. Fear and Love. This stuck with me… and I want to ask you to evaluate your actions and thoughts based on this suggestion.
1 John 4:15-18 discusses God's perfect love for us. V. 18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
God has created us all to love and be loved.
So which do you operate out of… fear or love?
Fear of what others think about you
Fear of betrayal
Fear of exclusion
Fear of inadequacy
or
Love for others and yourself because you know you are loved
We have all read John 3:16 on numerous Sunday school classroom walls, bookmarks, and cards… but after reading it today during church I was reminded of the pure goodness in it.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
(John 3:16-21)
Let him love on you.
