We took a two hour Bus Trip back to our first ministry site- Tanguarine. But only for a day and a half. It took all the self control I had not to squeeze the life out of this particular little girl. It was heart warming to see her again.

This is Angie

She is the sweetest little darling… Even though we were physically toiling- cleaning and shoveling, painting and sweeping- she wouldn’t leave us. She wanted to be right there with us- working.

She would diligently pluck scattered weeds, place them in her miniature plastic bag then sweetly dump the bag into the giant wheelbarrow until I rolled it off to the dump site. (Such a big helper).

Later, she carried around a (bigger) plastic bag while a few of us picked up medium-sized rocks and dropped them into the bag… She lasted a little while- until the bag got too heavy of course!

We also did some…
painting…

and Shoveling…

And… at first I irritably questioned God, “Why am I doing this?” And after a little while…he faithfully answered me.

Right at about bucket number 15 of rocks/dirt that I managed to haul ~85ft to the back yard, I was getting frustrated. The buckets were heavy, I was tired and my hands hurt.

I look in front of me and I see Marisol (the owner of the home and sweet friend) a little ways ahead. I playfully run up next to her and pass her as if to race her to the dirt pile. She begins laughing with joy.

At that moment I realize this day isn’t about me being comfortable…or even feeling good. It is about me adhering to the love God has given me for Marisol and for the people of Tanguarine. He called me to serve.

I found out later that the house we were remodeling is for future missionaries to have a place to stay.

What a memorable last fews days in Tanguarine and Ecuador. Next stop: Peru.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
