I just arrived at my next location in Candelaria, Nicaragua on Wednesday. We had a great bus ride from Honduras. I just will never understand the border crossings. I’m now at New Song Mission. It’s beautiful here. We had a tour when we first arrived. I was most excited about the clinic. That was fun to see. The clinic is only open on Thurs. and Friday’s because of funds for now. Yesterday I went and introduced myself to the staff. There is a male and female doctor and a nurse. They dental and medical work and they all seem great. My Spanish is still pretty bad, but I just spoke my Spanglish and they spoke their Spanish and we did the best we could. We did a doppler on this 19 year old pregnant girl. She is 28 weeks pregnant and so sweet. I love hearing the sound of a baby’s heartbeat. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…Jer. 1:5 I like thinking about that verse and why we are all here on this earth.

One thing I’m learning is that relationships are hard for me, especially with a language barrier. I’m better with projects. If someone just tells me something to do, I can do it. What I’m learning is that so many of these ministries are focused on relationships. This is the right way. Jesus didn’t focus on projects, He focused on people. A wise woman in Honduras said, “Sometimes giving someone a hug can be the project”. That is so true.

This afternoon I’m going to visit some houses with one of the older women named Rosa. She is a sweet little thing. She has 8 children and gets up at 3:30am every morning to pray before she has to begin cooking for her family. She visits families in the village and prays for them every day. One of Rosa’s daughters died a couple years ago. I met the girl. Her daughter was electrocuted by some barbed wire. She even still has a scar on her nose from the wire falling on her face. She had no heartbeat, no pulse. She was taken to one hospital where she was pronounced dead. Rosa did not believe it and took her to another hospital. Eight doctors said she was dead. Rosa kept saying, “I am a daughter of God, she is a daughter of God and she is not dead”. She kept praying over her and told her to speak and her daughter spoke.  She had been dead 3 ½ hours and came back to life. I don’t really think there is any other way to look at it. She is alive and well because of her mother’s prayers and what God can do. It’s so easy to say ALL things are possible with God, but do we really believe that? I’ll let you know how my time with Rosa goes. J
