To be completely honest, when I think about the Race right now, I find myself speechless and overwhelmed by the endless possibilities. I don’t know if this is a phase, but my mind can’t even imagine what to expect. This trip is unlike anything I have ever done. I don’t even own a backpack yet. I’m either ecstatic with anticipation or bewildered that God chose me for this. I have absolutely no idea what He will do in the next 11 months around the world. All I know is it’s bigger than I ever dreamed, and I am so excited to be a part of it.

While these are extremely loose expectations, I expect…

To change, grow, and learn.
To need a whole lot of Jesus and a lot less of me.
To be challenged beyond my safe zone.
To conquer my fears.
To find things I didn’t know I was looking for.

To be sick, heartbroken, exhausted, scared, discouraged, tired, uncomfortable, and homesick.
To be empowered, freed, healed, grateful, comforted, inspired, surprised, and speechless.

Sleepless nights, long days, and sweaty, humid weather.
Cuts, scrapes, bruises, and bug bites.

To pray big, bold prayers.
To heal the sick
To see miracles.
To practice perseverance.
To wait on God.
To rely on the Holy Spirit.
To see God moving in unexpected ways.
To need LOTS of prayers of intercession.
To experience God’s faithfulness.
To know God more and fall more in love with Jesus.

To miss my parents, Matthew, and Chewie.
To find creative ways to communicate across counties and time zones.
To miss friends and family.
To send countless postcards back home.

To live out of a backpack.
To leave things behind along the way.
To share more than I am used to.
To get creative with my limited wardrobe.

To get lost.
To take new forms of transportation.
To spend time waiting and sleeping on travel days.
To eat without utensils.
To use my tent.
To sleep in strange places and under the stars.
To use foreign septic systems.
To wear saris and ethnic clothing.
To do laundry and dishes by hand.
To take bucket showers, encounter strange critters, and eat unidentifiable foods.

To care for orphans.
To love the untouchable.
To feed the hungry.
To give to the poor.
To see light in the darkness

To dance and sing.
To ride an elephant and a camel.
To take way too many pictures.
To write countless postcards.
To fall in love with people I haven’t met.
To hear stories that break my heart.
To leave pieces of my heart in each country around the world.
