This month will be different then any month so far, and not just because we are in Riga Latvia and Not Africa. But because we have been asked to do Unsung Heroes. You are probably asking.. what is Unsung heroes?

Well they can be different. But our job is to go out and find people who are doing work for God, who do it because God asked/told them too. Nothing else. It could be people, who we could possibly in the future host a world race team or squad to help them out with whatever their ministry is. To help be the salt in the light for this part of the world. We have been in contact with some pretty awesome people of God, they make you want to just sit and talk to them for hours. A few of my teammates will be writing blogs about them, sense they know more about them then I do. Since they “found” them. I will share links of the blogs as the post them.

My role on this team has changed a lot. i have taken over being the finance person for my team, which means i am in charge of our money and keeping us on budget. woo yayay! not only that but this month i am also the Unsung Hero admin. Which means my job is to make sure the blogs get posted about the people we meet, and then to take the information we have for them and fill out paperwork so World Race can get in contact with them and learn more if needed. This month is a month where we get to really focus on listening to God and what he has for us to do. Learning to depend on him more. Its also a month where we are in charge of finding a place to stay, or places depending if we move around a lot or not. We have felt the call to really focus on Riga, since it is a huge city and there is so much going on.

Thankfully Justin (One of Squad Leaders) was in Riga on his race and he knew of some people and a church, and they have so graciously been letting us stay at the church. Which has been a huge blessing. We got invited last week to help some of them go unload a semi truck full of clothes, bedding, mattresses, furniture, and food out of it. Which if I understood right, the lady who we were helping does it 3 or 4 times a year, and she will then give it out to church’s and organizations so they can give it out to those in need. It was nice to be able to put our hands to some work and to come alongside others and help them.

That so far has really been one of my highlights of this first week here. That and the cello’s that were played in church the first Sunday here. Oh one more thing from Riga. I got to go to a Latvian University basketball game. Now it might not have been a Kansas University basketball game.. but I will not lie. One of the thing that made me really happy about Europe was basketball.. after two months of “futball” I was really wanting some basketball… and I got it. I enjoyed it very much. I also got to go down to the court during halftime and got flowers given to me. Being as the day before was National Women day! So that and valentines day are the two busiest days for flower shops.

Oh speaking of Valentines day read this blog by one of my Squadmates about what happened on Valentines day in Malawi. Valentines Day Blog! Read me!

More to come from Riga, Latvia.
