Greetings
and Many Blessings to You!
It
took me awhile to figure out what my next step would be after I
graduated from WSU a little over a year ago. It’s been an interesting
time, seeing so many doors close and opportunities vanish all the
while wondering what exactly God was leading me to do. I then became
open to more options than “just getting a job.” You see buried
way down in my heart was a desire to do missions at some point in my
lifetime. I never would have thought than the opportunity would come
so soon and in such an incredible way.
On
January 1, 2009 I will begin my opportunity to do ministry in 11
countries over 11 months in a program called the World Race
(www.theworldrace.org)
through Adventures in Missions (AIM). AIM is an amazing program
geared toward discipling my generation to really live and walk out
the way Christ has called us to. AIM offers two training camps
sessions before you go, so you can be equipped when you go out.
During the World Race I will be working with churches and
missionaries to help out with whatever is going on there. Over the 11
months I will do anything from helping to build a building, to
running children programs (like Vacation Bible School), to
humanitarian aid, to street ministry, basically whatever needs to be
done and whatever God leads us to do. I can’t even imagine how this
opportunity will change me and what kind of spiritual growth will
happen in my life, but I’m certainly excited to embrace it all.
Not
only am I writing this to inform you what I’m up to, but I would like
to invite you on this journey with me. I will be regularly posting on
my blog (web page) every week so you can keep track of what I’m up to
and my progress, not only while on the race but right now while I’m
preparing to go. My page is amandahamilton.theworldrace.org and I
encourage you to keep checking it on a regular basis.
In
partnering with me on this mission I most importantly need your
prayers, now while preparing and then when I’m on the field
(especially then!). However, I also need support financially for
this. The program is $13,800 plus about $1700 more for health
insurance, training airfare, visas and vaccinations. I know this
seems like a daunting number but God is the god of all resources and
it’s really not that much. If 25 people pledged $55 a month for 10
months I would have the cost of the program covered, or if 50 people
pledged $27 for 10 months it would be covered. When you look at that
way it really isn’t much is it?
I
have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which
invites you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to
Adventures In Missions. You may write “appealed by” and my
name in the memo section of the check if you wish. All donations
should be mailed to Adventures in Missions, P.O. Box 534470, Atlanta,
GA 30353-4470. Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with
all necessary information. Adventures in Missions is registered with
the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit
organization. Donors will receive receipts for their gifts with the
understanding that the disbursement of those gifts lies completely at
the discretion of Adventures in Missions and that the gifts are
non-refundable and non-transferable, per IRS regulations. Gifts may
be tax deductible; please consult your tax advisor.
Can
you imagine how many liveswill be changed by sending me? I
certainly can’t fathom it. I’m so excited to see how God will change
and use me through this opportunity. Please just pray and consider
this opportunity that is before you. I have no clue what kind of
doors of blessings partnering with me may produce in your life, but
it will be great.
May
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. (Phil. 4:23)
Love,
Amanda
Hamilton
P.S.
If you know of anyone who is looking for a ministry like this to
support, I encourage to pass along this letter to them. I don’t want
to deny anyone that wants to support what I’m doing. Thank you.
