(My new djembe, Milimani 🙂

I’m a huge fan of Kenya. The people are so much fun, the landscape is beautiful, I got a new djembe, I get tea all the time… this is the place to be! This month my team is working with Deliverance Church Lang’ata. The church is just outside of the city of Nairobi and literally outside the boundary of Kibera Slums, Our contact arranged for us to stay in an apartment complex a few steps away from the slums. Our primary ministry this month is actually to the people in the apartment complex. We get to know the neighbors by going door to door and in turn have the opportunity to share Christ, invite them to church, and serve them in babysitting, etc. On Fridays we go to the primary schools and teach Bible to the students. I will be returning to the same class of 5th graders for the remainder of this month. My favorite part of our time so far was a trip we took with the youth from the church to Ngong Hills. I never knew Africa was this beautiful. We took the day to hike six of the seven hills and got to know the youth of Deliverance Church. Hiking, being surrounded by beautiful green hills, chillin’ with sweet African youth… i mean really what’s not to love?! As typical of most of the months of the race thus far we are at the disposal of our ministry contact and will be doing just about everything!!
