So… Training camp… wow.

First of all. this Georgia weather has been totally like Michigan. It has been super cold here!! It feels like Michigan in the fa

A challenge for me is making things long and drawn out, using far too many words [sorry] so for this exercise I am trying to keep this as concise as possible, so this is my experience with training camp in SIX WORDS.

FREEDOM

PEACE

JOY

BROKENNESS

AFFECTION

CHALLENGED

I have found so much freedom in this place and I have been confirmed that beyond a shadow of a doubt this is where I am supposed to be for this season. I cannot wait to introduce you to my squad, my team, and my squad leaders, but I will save that for another blog entirely.

I read so many blogs before coming here. I literally searched and searched for hints and clues as to what would happen at training camp. I had some stuff figured out, but a lot of it was a surprise. I was ready… or so I thought. Then I got here. The months leading up to this moment were full of anticipation. After talking to the people who would be on my squad since July I was ready to meet them. When I got together with them for the first time I felt so much at home. I fell so in love with this group of people and our purpose. I have learned so much about myself. I have learned so much about the Lord. I have learned so much about living in community. I am starting to see things with new eyes.

Having to surrender every aspect of my life has not been easy. The first night here we did an exercise that really showed us what we were surrendering to come here. Surrendering is different than sacrifice. I have sacrificed to come here, but I wasn’t sure about surrender. Surrender is so difficult, but so worth it.

Living in community for a few days has its ups and downs [mostly ups], but transforming our entire lifestyle into this community living will be challenging. Even with its challenges I am so stoked to see what will happen when I step on a plane in January and go with these amazing 40 people around the world. I can’t wait to be transformed and immersed into this lifestyle.

Here are a few other fun facts and final thoughts of WR life thus far:

– headphone worship can be personal and legit

– we can call each other up into greatness and that is exciting

– what is freetime or alone time?

– camping isn’t so bad

– i can survive without my cell phone

– freedom is essential

Much love,

-A
