“You can be in your life and just be surviving or you can be
in your life and walk in your calling” – Betsy Garmon

Did you know I am a superhero? Yep, I sure am!

I am not a superhero out of anything I have done, but I am a
superhero because I let the Lord use me to do the beautiful things he has
called me to do with my life. I am not trying to bring glory to anyone but
Jesus, so remember that if it looks like I am trying to bring myself glory in
this blog.

Mama Bets shared some
stuff with us at our last debrief in Romania about being superheroes.
Superheroes have capes. That is how you recognize them as a superhero. You can
see their cape and know that something epic is about to go down. Superheroes
rescue people from danger, save damsels in distress, drive fast cars, fly, and
a myriad of other awesome things. They usually have their regular, normal life
clothes too, and when they become a superhero they put on their cape and save
the day. What if Batman tied his cape on with the bottom around his neck? What
if Superman’s cape was on backwards? What if they switched capes? The things
they do wouldn’t seem as great. Maybe they wouldn’t be able to do all the
awesome things they could normally do without their cape being on just right.

So yes, I am a superhero but sometimes I don’t get my cape
on the right way. Sometimes it can be sideways or upside down or backwards.
When my cape is on the wrong way I still think I am being a superhero, but I’m
not walking in the fullness of my heroism. You too are a superhero, but what
does your cape look like? Is it on right? Without our capes on the right way we
aren’t walking in the fullness that the Lord has for us. We are not using what
the Lord has given us to the completeness that He has called us to.

I found that it helped me to write down the things that I
feel are on my superhero cape when I have it on the right way and when I have
it on backwards. When my cape is on the right way it includes truths that
overflow from the woman that God has made me. When my cape is on backwards it
is an extension of lies that I have believed and the stems from an unhealthy
place and an already defensive posture. When I try to do ministry with my cape
on backwards, it ends with much of the focus on me and often complaining. When
I go into ministry with my superhero cape on the right way, flapping in the
wind the focus is on the Lord and the love that can overflow from my heart when
I allow him to use me.

Did you put your cape on the right way today?

Much love,

-A
