Lago Atitlan
So for our last weekend in Guatemala
we had a few days off between our final day of ministry and our arrival day in El Salvador so
we decided to be tourists for two days. We stayed at a BEAUTIFUL hostel in the
lovely city of Panajachel, Guatemala. This
lake is approximately a mile above sea level surrounded by mountains. It is a
beautiful little city and we had a great relaxing weekend with two of the other
teams on our squad. As a team we went to dinner one night and lunch the next
day together. For the lunch we took a 20 minute boat ride across the lake to a
very secluded hotel. We had an amazing lunch that included a glorious fresh
fruit smoothie then we had some time to soak up some sunshine and go swimming.
It was such a great time of relaxing and refreshing ourselves and preparing for
our month of ministry in El
Salvador.
At the lake I was able to room with a girl from a different
team who I got rather close to last month in Guatemala. She and I had a lovely
date to eat some amazing local food on our last night and we just enjoyed our
time living with each other for the last two days we were together. This month
her team lives about an hour and a half drive away from where I live so I
cherish that time we had together.
Our time at the lake was so beautiful and some time that I
cherished so much. This month in El Salvador, my team is living
alone and doing ministry mostly alone. Although at first I was kind of sad to
leave the other two teams and not be paired with anyone this month, now I am so
excited because I am becoming jealous for spending time with my own team. I am
thrilled to get to dive deeper into relationships with the five girls that I
live with. I can’t wait to get to know them more and on a more personal level.
I am jealous for time with them and that is so good. It is also something that
I didn’t want so much last month, or really make time for.
Our time at the lake really pressed that into my heart and
it is just continually being confirmed that my place has always been on this
team and this team is home for me. Even if I didn’t start out on this team, it
is where I belong.
Much love,
-A
