Home sweet Home.

No I am not back in Michigan…
sorry if I got your hopes up.

I am back in Romania.
This is my third time here and although I am in a different part of Romania than I
have ever been to before, working with people I have never worked with before,
it feels like I never left. The language, the culture, the food, the music, the
public transportation… all of it is so comfortable and so normal to me,
welcoming almost after three months in Central America.

Our ministry this month is amazing. We are partnering with a
local church mostly doing outreach ministry to a gypsy community/neighborhood
in Pitesti, Romania. In that we taught some
English classes, dance, music, and dramas to the children and teenagers of
Razboieni. Through our English classes we were able to have some very good
conversations about how these children view the Lord and how they can either
continue or begin to view the Lord as Father. We sing songs with them and
perform dramas for them. I think one of the best things for me though is the
fact that I can [for the most part generally] understand what they are saying. I
don’t always know the right words to respond to them, but I generally know what
they are saying.

Romanians are a beautiful people and it feels so good to be
here. I am still as much in love with this country as I was on my second day
here in 2008 [the first day included much sleeping] and the day that I left in
2010. Something about this culture is very much home for my spirit and even
though this month started in a rough place emotionally for me, the fact that I
am in Romania was enough to hold me together and walk through the first few
weeks on a new team. It is hard to be sad or mad when I am in my favorite place
in the world.

Here are some of my favorite foods from Romania that we
don’t have:

Nesquik Duo cereal

Finetti

Smantana [cheese spread stuff that you put on bread]

Lemon Fanta

Shaorma

Primola
Chocolate Bars

Joes

Bake Rolls

Yum. Yum.
Yum.
Welcome to my favorite country ever!

Much love,

-A
