Guat’s Up!
Welcome to Guatemala
dear blog followers!!
I hope that you are all doing super fabulous, I know that I
am.
We landed in Guatemala
on Friday around midday and we got to spend the last few minutes as a squad
hanging out in the Guatemala City
airport. We finally were able to split up and head out to our individual
ministry sites.
This month my team [Team Raja] is in Antigua
with Team Shadowfeet. We are staying in a hostel here in the city and are able
to walk to our ministry sites. We are surrounded by mountains and actually
right out the back of our hostel we can see a volcano! It is really beautiful
here. There is so much color and I promise to post a photo blog very soon.
We got here to Antigua on
Friday and we were able to settle in and just kind of hang out for the weekend.
It was a very nice transition into life here in Antigua.
We got to walk around and just experience the culture and life and beauty that
reside in this city. On Sunday we went to a local church that has the sermon
and songs in both English and Spanish. I am loving this city, but struggling
with the language. It seems that any Spanish I knew [besides Hola, como estas] has faded
away and has been overcome by the Romanian that I know. People keep asking
questions or saying things to me in Spanish and I usually answer in Romanian.
It is kind of funny actually.
Our ministry has just started today and I am looking forward
to continuing this ministry. This week is a little bit different, we are
splitting our time between working in a home for elderly people “The Grandpa
house” and in the hospital helping out. Next week we will begin ministry with
local students and I am not sure yet what exactly that will look like, but I
will be sure to let you know.
For now, just know that I am doing really well here in Guatemala and I
am just so excited. I can’t believe that I am actually on the world race and
actually doing this. It is crazy to me!! But I am loving this time that I have
to get to know my new team and spend with Team Shadowfeet.
Hope all is well at home!
Much love,
-A
