Is this really happening? Am I really in Mexico? The palm trees, the bumpy roads, the only one safe drinking water spigot, and tossing my used toilet paper into the garbage instead of the bowl tell me I have arrived. I hear the cute little bleating of the nearby goats roaming around on the AIM property in Matamoros. I have unsuccessfully already tried herding them and encouraging them to be my friends. So now I just gaze at them grazing in the field in front of me with the gentle tingle of the bells around their necks as my soundtrack. Well…that and the not so gentle grumble of some plant or generator buzzing behind it. Ah yes, welcome to Mexico indeed!
Here’s the office. I’m sitting on those sweet yellah chairs as I type this.
And of course, the unfriendly goats. So cute! I actually almost got the one with the green rope…but his horns scared me away from forcing him to love me. The tug of rope was a fun lil game though!
We have a few hours to chill before the rest of the crew comes from the airport and so I retreat with the lappy, get close to the Oficina de Aventuras en Misiones and try to pick up the wireless, to no avail. …“not associated”…what does that even mean? So, who knows when I’ll get a chance to post this, but I still write. All for you my dear readers…all for you.
Actually, this blogging thing is very therapeutic. There’s just something almost comforting when you get things down on paper…even virtual paper! 🙂 Might as well share some pictures of the trip so far. You know the best part of a blog is the pictures.
Here we are at the airport waiting for a few more to come in so we can head to our hotel. At this point we’ve got one last day in Texas before everyone arrives in the morning and we head to Mexico the next day.
Here we are in our hotel. The Harlingen HoJo—“exactly a mile” from the airport…right… Our shuttle master, Sam, was a Christian who loved the Lord and was so pleased to serve us though. We were well taken care of!
There’s definitely more to come…I mean, I’ve only been in Mexico for about an hour now. This train hasn’t even started rolling! Love you and miss you all lots!
Adios from Mexico! (that’s Meh-HE-co for all of you who don’t habla espanol)
“…el nino is Spanish for….
the nino…”
p.s. You win a popsicle if you can tell me who said that sweet quote.
ok…fyi…i have 4 more blogs at least ready to post, but the internet here is super slow and putting up pictures is a slow process…more to come in the next few days! lo siento…. miss you and love you all!! 🙂
