The past two days on the mission field have been interesting. Ministry hasn’t looked exactly like I thought it would. With our days mostly open because of preaching engagements each night, we’ve been able to go out into the community and get to know some people. I’ve been blessed to hear people’s stories and pray for people who are hungry to hear the truth about God. I even had a chance to buy a homeless man some boots because his feet were sticking through the soles of his shoes. We prayed with him, he sobbed and poured his heart out to God, and we left him with a huge grin on his face and joy pouring out of him. I love this stuff.
There have been many days like this so far and so many good stories to share…healing is happening and the harvest is being brought in—praise the Lord!! So after so many awesome stories and a very fruitful ministry last week, I was ready to go out and hit the streets again this week. But things changed a bit this Tuesday; instead of going out like all the other teams had, our team stuck back for what we thought would be a quick meeting and a team worship time. What happened was anything but short.
We began with getting the business out of the way, chit-chatting a bit and then Shawna cracked out the guitar and we started worshipping. Worship led to a prayer time and then we found ourselves entering into some pretty intense intercession. It was just amazing. I love seeing our team operate like this. Each one of us had plans for the day, yet we were willing to just ¨let go and let God¨ like the saying goes.
We always say how important prayer is and that prayer makes things happen—but how often do we allow ourselves to really enter into it when it´s time?? We didn´t plan an intercession meeting, God did and it´s really fun to follow where He´s going. Today a similar thing happened during our team time after breakfast. I saw Steph reading on the porch and knew it was my time to go and wash her feet. She had recently shared with me how disgusting her feet were and, after seeing them, I totally agreed and told her I wanted to wash her feet…like a
real washing…with a good pumice stone on those grubby little things.
I started to wash away, finally able to be a servant myself to the servant of our group and the rest of the team started to gather around for our meeting. Before you know it, we had a full out pedicure station right there on the porch! All the ladies on our team got washed and massaged (sorry scott!) and the best part of it all was that we spent some time specifically praying for and prophesying into each person one at a time around the circle. I can´t think of a better way to start my day than with clean feet and encouraging words. Thanks team! I love you!
