I leave for Ecuador in a matter of hours.
W Squad rocks!
I’m currently sitting in a food court in the Miami airport, surrounded by saran wrapped luggage (why?) waiting to meet up with the rest of my squadmates for our flight to Ecuador tonight. Can this be real? Am I dreaming? Is it really July 13?
When I decided to do the World Race, the September 2010 squads where preparing to leave and I was reading blogs just like this one I’m writing, thinking how 9 months was just sooooooo long to wait. Now I’m here, at the starting line ready to take off and it’s weird, and awesome.
During this first month our squad will be spread all over Ecuador. Some will be in the jungle, some will be near the beach and the rest will be in the city. My team will be spending our first month on the outskirts of Quito in a village called El Tingo, working with a ministry called
Mano Y Mano . I don’t know exactly what we’ll be doing but the ministry works with the local kids and youth, teaching and feeding them and if we’re doing anything remotely related to that I’ll be in heaven!
If you could keep me, my team and my squad in your prayers that would be amazing! Also I still have $6,300 to raise! My next deadline is to have $11,000 dollars in my account by the end of September ( I still have $1,700 to go!) If you would like to donate you can do so by clicking the support me link on the lefthand side. All donations are tax deductible!
Stay tuned for more once we get to Ecuador!
