It all started last month, a challenge to document as many moments as I could in a week. Armed with my trusty Ipod and the Instagram app I set out and captured nearly 60 photos. Below is a selection of those photos covering out ministry, day off and even a Holiday…
1. Judah, our neighbors horse running through the frosty field next door 2. On most of our ministry days we walk a mile along the main highway from our village to the next 3. We pray a lot, and some times those prayer circles include the local gypsy children 4. We met a 16 year old gypsy (wealthier one) who got married when he was 13, whoa 5. Walking to find another house to visit 6. At one of the gypsy families we visit there are tons of kids running around. The oldest is Kristina. She has beautiful eyes! 7. Waiting for the bus to take us into Targu Mures 8. The main square in Targu Mures has some awesome architecture.
9. Shopping for Thanksgiving. Our shopping trips here are all epic 10. Backyard worship time 11. Our contact, Pastor Zsombor praying 12. Alysa holding a precious little Gypsy boy at one of our visits 13. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 14. My favorite little Gypsy girl, Corina 15. House, or more like a shack, in the Gypsy compound 16. Gypsy girl playing with Lauren on her guitar on Thanksgiving 17. Our Thanksgiving spread complete with chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, biscuits, deviled eggs and applesauce.
18. Thanksgiving night. Lets just say Lauren was channeling her inner Lion King. 19. Topping off the night by watching “Pink Tractor” on Youtube 20. Walking through our village to ministry on a frosty morning. 21. Praying for a Gypsy family in their house. 22. Going to pray for another Gypsy family 23. Ashley and Alysa hard at work cooking dinner in our kitchen 24. Potato soup for lunch! 25. Meal time with the team 26. Grocery shopping yet again. This time for the weeks groceries. Thank goodness for “Real” supermarket.
27. With backbacks full of groceries, the always daring Annee and Alysa decide it’s the perfect time for a jumping pic 28. In front of the main cathedral in Targu Mures 29. I don’t know what this building is, but it’s pretty cool looking! 30. Going through the big red doors to church 31. Pastor Zsombor preaching 32. Spending our Sunday morning listening to a podcast by Francis Chan 33. For the first time there is no frost when we wake up 34. Meal planning for the next week
So, welcome to our life in Romania! It’s been a busy and exciting month, and I really love the Gypsy community. Stay tuned for more blogs on Romania to come.
