some of my thoughts! It’s long…but color-coded.
Hope this answers some questions as I get to share the excitement with ya! I’m super
excited about this route (which is why I bet I say exited a zillion times and
have a bazillion exclamation marks), so read, skim, enjoy!!
far. The DR, in the middle of the Caribbean has a population of around 9
million. Its neighbor is Haiti but they seem to be worlds apart as far as the
DR being more affluent and stable. After the earthquake, many Haitians sought
shelter, food, etc. in the DR. We will be working in orphanages, refugee camps,
and “more.”
Haiti will be filled with lots and lots of work as we will be helping with
earthquake relief efforts. We will also have the opportunity to build
connections with people, teach, and help provide immediate needs of the people
devastated by the January earthquake.
this may possibly be it.
home. We will be able to reach out to these individuals who have been outcasted and forgotten by society. We will be teaching English, leading sports
camps, and showing love and reaching out to the gypsies. I’m really excited to
experience culture in Romania and reach out to the gypsy people and help with
sports camps. It kind of reminds me of what the Russia trip I went on was like.
I’m hoping to find Blini there! Yumm.
challenging, exciting, and seriously a different culture than what I’ve ever
experienced. Turkey is a primarily Muslim nation, but one of the birthplaces of
the Church. I’m not totally sure what we will be doing here right now, but I’ll
let ya know when I do! I can only imagine! I know of people who have been and
came back with incredible experiences, so I’m excited to see what work God has
in store!
first. I’ve had a passion for
going to Africa for quite some time, so I’m excited to experience at least 3
different countries on this continent! Back to Mozambique. On the east coast of
Africa, this is said to be one of the most beautiful countries on the continent.
Beautiful land and people, great connections, but filled with poverty and hard
times. We will be teaching, preaching, and working with widow and orphans and
loving on the people of Mozambique! Malawi is a neighbor to Mozambique and
known as “the warm heart of Africa.” Here we will be doing a lot of relational
ministry and leading and showing God’s love as we soak up the beautiful land
and awesome culture. We will also be going to another country in Africa, but
I’m not sure where that is yet! I’ll let yall know when I do! So it’s the country of I don’t know yet! :)..just to go along with the color coded, underline the country theme..
am super excited about this. My 6th grade geography teacher went to
Thailand, told us about it, and ever since then I have these random pictures in
my head of what it is like, and I’m stoked to see what these ideas from 6th
grade really are like. We will more than likely be working a good bit in the
larger cities with some on the countryside. We will have the opportunity to
serve women who are coming out of prostitution and helping with the transition
out of sex tourism. I know AIM has a set up home where women go, live, learn,
and find stable work and community, and my guess is we’ll be able to spend
sometime there.
will be doing here (I’ll fill ya in once I know exactly), but I do know
Cambodia is recovering from some really hard times as much of their population
was killed in the genocides about 28years ago. I’m interested to see what life
in Cambodia is like. I feel like I’ll experience some “unique” foods here-
thanks to Andrew Zimmerman education. I’m sure we’ll be showing some love here
as well in lots of ways!
is huge. Lots of people, quite a bit of land, big cities, heavy Communism
influences in many aspects of life. Here we will see the Great Wall, experience
yet another culture with a variety of religions as there is an underground
church community and several different religions prominent and approved by the
government and regulated.
culture, people, and music and all that good stuff (from what I’ve
heard/read!). Here we will be caring for orphans, building relationships,
encouraging, and experiencing the diverse landscape!
