We made it safe and sound to Romania! It is a beautiful country. We rode on a train from Bucharest to Arad (the city we are living in for the month) and in the middle of the night I woke up and looked out the window to see the rolling hills covered with trees and snow. It was very pretty and I would have taken a picture if I wasn't so tired.
We are working at a kids summer church camp this month! It is such a cool camp and I think that a lot of us are enjoying the idea of working at a church camp because many of us went to church camp when we were younger and realize how important they are and how influential on a kids life that they can be. We are supposed to be doing maintenance and preparation work for the camp to be ready for the summer, but we at a stand-still because of weather right now.
When we got to Romania there was about 3 feet of snow on the ground and the temperatures are very cold. In fact I was reading an article n the newspaper on the airplane about the extreme cold weather that Eastern Europe has been receiving and many people have died because of the cold temperatures here. Thus, we are staying inside where there is ample furnace heat (a great luxury) and staying out of the cold. I'm not sure that they were expecting such a great amount of snow for our time here. There is one building in particular that needs a lot of painting and work done to it so when we can get the heater in that building to work we will begin painting inside. I believe that the carpet in that building needs some serious cleaning so we will do that as well.
Please pray that we will be able to do some great work here and get the camp in good shape for when the summer season begins.
There is going to be a conference of college-aged students here in a week or so that we will get to be involved with, so that is exciting.
Other than all of that, we are loving being in Eastern Europe and are excited to get to explore the country a little bit.
