As of today we have been in Guatemala for 35 days.  You may be wondering why we are in this country for more than the typical 1 month.  Hmmm…. Good question.

Our squad left Guatemala last Friday and headed to Honduras to begin month 10 on the race.  We did not go with them because there was one member of our squad who contracted appendicitis and had her appendix removed last Tuesday; thus, Chris and I are staying with her until she is recovered and can make the 14 hour (or more) bus trip to Honduras.

We are no longer in Antigua, but in a smaller city called Chimaltenango about a half-hour away from Antigua.  We are beyond blessed to be staying at a Seminary.  We are using one of the American teachers’ apartments while she is back in the U.S. on sabbatical for a few years.  We are living in what are the most luxurious and comfortable living conditions that we have experienced in 9 months.  We have hot water, we can drink from the faucet, oh and don’t even get me started on the comfortable bed!  We are eating meals in the cafeteria with the seminary students and we are having fun talking with them.  They are teaching us Spanish.

I even had the chance to make real cookies!

Our friend whom had her appendix removed is doing very well.  The surgery was more than a week ago and she had her stitches removed yesterday.  The doctor said that on Saturday she will be well and we can travel to Honduras.

While we are at the Seminary we are trying to make the most of our time.  We are using this time for resting and being filled up with God’s word.  We’ve been listening to podcasts from churches in the U.S. and have been making relationships with the students who are studying here.  God has a plan in everything!

Today we are celebrating our third wedding anniversary!
