I had the opportunity to hit the streets today with the Kids International Ministry feeding program. We took two vans; one which had our WR team, 2 tubs of already made Kids Against Hunger rice packs and 1 tub with bags of dry rice packs. The other van consisting of a group of high school students from an international school in South Korea.

In 2009, there was a series of typhoons that ended up hitting Manila, leaving thousands of people stranded and without shelter. The American Red Cross was able to evacuate most of those people and move them uphill. Hundreds of families, hopeless and homeless, were left to live in tents.

This morning, we took the food to “Tent City”, one of the neighborhoods where displaced families sought a place to stay. They no longer live in tents, but brick houses with tin roofs. Most of the people living there don’t have enough money to afford transportation into Manila to work, so they have no form of income. And when you have no form of income, you can’t buy food. So KIM started their first feeding program.

We went back out to a different area in the afternoon. Same situation. Displaced families that don’t have the means to provide decent meals for themselves. So KIM set out to change that. By bringing people a meal, rich in protein, vitamins, and other essentials, they are able to get the nutrition they need.

It was an amazing day of ministry, here in Manila. And if the rest of this month is anything like today, I’m in for a MIND BLOWING month.

Here We Go!
