WOOO!! I am extremely excited to start off this year long journey in a place that I have wanted to visit since I was young! I can’t quite explain why I am so drawn to the culture or what it is that makes it so exciting for me but I know that the minute I get there it will be known. And that feels so special!
It is no secret that this country is filled with gang violence and poverty, yet it is still one of the most stable countries in Central America. We will be partnering with multiple mission groups to aid in sports ministries, youth programs with kids who have suffered abuse, feeding programs for the community, etc. I am so passionate about working with youth and my heart is so ready to pour into a community of kids and bring them the hope of Jesus.
While I am so excited to build relationships with the community and pour into others, I look forward to adventuring and exploring on days off and downtime as well. With my squad mates I’ll be able to participate in world-class surfing, something I’m excited for after spending time here in Maui. We will get to hike and explore the green, lush jungles, go white-water rafting, paddle-boarding and much more. And also explore the towns, do some shopping and spend time in local coffee shops! I am also prepared to eat rice and beans with every meal while there!! HEHE
