Lasting Impressions has a wide variety of things they do. Their focus is in Environmental and Leadership Camps but they also put on community outreaches, retreats, and even weddings!
If I ever have a destination wedding, it will be in Zimbabwe at Lasting Impressions.
We had a camp Monday-Friday afternoon and the wedding was on Saturday afternoon/night so everyone had to work really hard to pull this event together. Lasting Impressions staff examples that so well though, work hard and without a complaint!
So after we cleaned up after the camp we have to hang lights in the trees around the wedding reception area. Alistair who is a true bushmen, has been three feet away from a wild elephant, is afraid of heights. So I had the privilege of climbing up on a janky ladder posted up against a tree hanging beautiful lights. It took some time, but my team got it done and it turned out so stunning! We set up the tables, chairs, helped out the flower arrangements out and helped serve during the wedding.
I think my favorite part of the wedding set up/preparation would be making one of the appetizers.
Shelley’s daughter is going to school to be a chef and she created this delicious, savory cheesecake recipe that the bride wanted served at the reception. So it was about 9:30 pm and my team starts help making this tasty appetizer. I was crying from all of the onions that I was cutting, these nasty fly/wasp things are dive bombing us, Shelley left to go check on something at the camp, and the directions say to deglaze the pan. Cool, what the heck does deglaze the pan mean?! We have no idea so naturally we turn to google, which helps us out but we are still so uneasy about it. The pressure is on because everyone at the wedding is excited for these cheesecakes!
It was a night full of so much laughter, tears, and fun!
They really went all out on making everything prefect for the bride and groom, and the wedding was so beautiful!
Oh and incase you are wondering, we stayed up until 11:30 pm making all of the appetizers, they were loved by everyone at the wedding!
