Albania was AMAZING!
It feels so good to be out of Asia and in Europe where they believe in cheese, bread, and meat! I haven’t had rice in a full month and it feels SO GOOD!
Albania was such a whirlwind of a month!
My team, was partnered up with another team for the month. We lived together and served together, our space was theirs and via versa. The Peals of Faithfulness is their name, an all girls team that has one of my old teammates, Paige on it.
We were helping out the Church of Nazarene. We put on a VBS program for them, and did a Beauty for Ashes program for them as well!
Beauty for Ashes invites women into true freedom using the power of story to facilitate inner-healing in women’s lives. It offers a safe environment for women to exchange the ashes of isolation, shame, and wounds for crowns of beauty and restoration through the healing power of Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 61)
The Beauty for Ashes (B4A) was my absolute favorite part of the month.
We had girls under the age of 13 Tuesday and Wednesday morning and got to do different activities that helped them see their worth and showed them how the Lord sees them.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we had ages 13 and older. We did the same things with them just a little deeper.
I shared on forgiveness and my story was able to help one of the girls forgive a friend that had really hurt her. It was so neat to see her stand up in front of everyone sharing that she was going to forgive her friend because I was able to forgive friends in my past.
God uses the stories you share. Don’t think that no one is listening or you are not helping anyone.
At the end of both of the ages groups we did a beauty day! We bought some make up, got out the nail polish, curling irons and straighteners, and pampered them for a couple hours. We were even able to wash their feet which was such a beautiful thing to be apart of whether they fully understood the meaning behind it or not.
Here is a video that my teammate, Kimmy put together about B4A.
