Two nights ago, my friends and I decided to take a last-minute camping trip to North Carolina. We packed up our little Toyota Rav and drove four hours from Atlanta to Max Patch Mountain for the night of July 4th.
That night was just a tiny glimpse into what I have the opportunity to do for the next four months. My friends (Nick and Ky) and I ended up running into some future gap year racers. We got to talk to them about our Race and share the different things that we learned. They asked so many good questions; they were hungry for knowledge on how to run their Races well. We stood around a campfire, drank coffee, made s’mores, played guitar and sang. We prayed for them, talked to them, and got to remind them of the truth of the Lord’s calling on their lives. I have never been so inspired, impressed, and honored to know a group of people I had just met. They are unbelievably kind, thirsty for the Lord, and true servants.
This story is just a peek into what the Lord has called me to do this coming fall.
I am NOT, in fact, going to college (at least not yet). I am doing something called Alumni Team Leading for the World Race instead. I’ll be going back out onto the field in September, and will be gone for three months in Ecuador, Peru, and Guatemala. Basically, I’ve been placed on a new gap year squad (GAP V!) and will be a part of a team of six or seven new gap year racers. I get to help them adjust to being away from home and entering into a new season of life with the World Race.
I am absolutely pumped that I get to watch the Lord transform people’s lives just like he did mine. Their Race, just like mine, lasts for nine months. I get to walk alongside them, listen to them, cry with them, pray with them, encourage them, and laugh with them for three of those nine months. And I am so excited. I’m excited to breathe out everything that the Lord has breathed into me, and breathe in everything the Lord pours into my team. I’m honored to have this new role and walk into a new season of life.
I’ll be in Georgia for the next two weeks for training camp, being trained for team leading, but also getting to experience the first leg of my squad’s Race with them. (if you want to know how training camp went for me before my Race, click here!).
I had to raise $14,951 last year for my Race. People were so generous in giving to me financially, as well as prayerfully. I am honored to have had the opportunity to travel and do missions for nine months last year because of those people.
In order for me to be able to Team Lead, I need $3,000. If I am someone that you would be interested in supporting, let me know. If you have any questions at all, let me know.
You can donate through my blog, check, venmo, WHATEVER. Ask me all the questions you have via email, text, call, or messenger.
I cannot embark on this new season of life without your help. I am confident that this is what the Lord has called me to do, and it would mean the world to me if you would be willing to give in any way!
