Since I was probably like 7 years old I have always written poetry, I absolutely loved it and was obsessed with reading it too! I’ve filled journals upon journals with silly rhymes and carefully placed vocab and it’s always been a big piece of who I am, throughout high school I even loved to read my poetry at my school’s coffee houses but for some reason this past year I’ve stopped writing poetry all of a sudden. I didn’t even realize until a couple of months ago, one day i was sitting there journaling and God just started talking to me about writing poetry for Him again. I kind of ignored it and brushed it off until about 3 weeks ago. During a feedback session, Moriah told me that while she was praying for me God just said the words “Join the Heaven Party”. I started to ask Him what He meant by that and He told me that He wanted me to write a poem called “Join the Heaven Party”. Oh boy I had no idea what He wanted me to write about so again I put it off and kind of ignored it until that weekend when I was sitting on Saturday and asking God what He wanted me to do with my time and He was like “Alyssa, you already know what I’m going to say, go write the poem!” So I finally got over myself and went out under my favorite tree and He gave me this poem! God really put it on my heart to share this with you! So for whoever needs to hear it:
Join the Heaven Party
Come from the shadows
From the shadow of Shame
Lay down your burdens
And throw off the blame
Bring guilt and bring darkness
Come as you are
For the reach of redemption,
Daughter, you are never too far
There’s no sin that’s too dirty
Or wall that’s too high
No price to expensive
That my love can’t buy
So daughter stand up
Rise to your feet
I have not made you broken
In me you’re complete
Take up your mat
and learn how to walk
You are healed in my name
You are one of my flock
You stand in my freedom
You walk in my might
For my yoke is easy
And my burden is light
Lift your eyes to the heavens
I have made you to dance
Just take one step, daughter
Just give it a chance
So let go of the world
Let go of the past
For you know that no earthly comfort
Or pain were made to last
Lift your hands in surrender
Turn your face from shame
And come join the party
That I have thrown in your name!
