Dear Team Crowned,
I love you, I’m glad to be part of you, but Sunday evening when you board the train that leaves Oradea, could you please just forget I’m part of you and leave me behind? Could you please leave me with these people?
When I wondered into an oasis, also known as the sewing room, late one afternoon during our first week here they welcomed me with open arms. When I mentioned I loved sewing, they invited me back to help out as often as I’d like. From that day on, my ministry was this sewing room.
My first morning in the sewing room I was shown the pattern books and this amazing room, filled floor to ceiling with all sorts of pretty fabrics!
Katarina, the sewing room directer, told me I could pick a fabric and sew what ever I would like. I immediately felt at home and began sewing a child’s dress. That day, for the first time in 8 months, I got to use a real sewing machine!
The second morning I walked into the sewing room, Katarina brought me a roll of pretty embroidered net and asked if I could sew some fun little girl skirts out of it. The skirts would be sold to support Caminul Felix, the Children’s home we partnered with this month.
Katarina liked the skirts I made so much that on the third morning, I taught one of the woman who works in the sewing room, Delia, how to make them.
That afternoon two little girls came to model the skirts we made.
They wore the skirts for pictures and had fun twirling in them. Then they stuck around for a while and helped us sew.
That day I knew I was right where I belonged – a place where I could let my creativity flow, share my love of sewing with others, help children, and serve the Lord by ministering to those around me.
So, team Crowned, my wonderful, beautiful teammates, won’t you please “accidentally” leave me behind when you head to the train station Sunday afternoon?
Sincerely,
Alyssa Wesselmann
