Dear LAC,
First of all I want to thank you all for your support. I would not be here in this place if it were not for your constant prayers and the overwhelming amount of time and financial support you have given. As a write you, I am in Les Cayes, Haiti. My second month on the World Race is coming quickly to an end.
So far ministry has been anything from playing and holding children, preaching at church services, serving and loving the missionaries and pastors who are here full time, doing food and basic need distributions, finding a friend in a waitress, painting a chain link fence, and praying for healing. Most importantly ministry has looked like is being open to anything God has in store for us.
We have been blessed beyond belief thus far. Our travels have gone smoothly, living conditions have been very homey, and our safety and health have not been put in jeopardy. We are thankful for this everyday as we know that it will not always be this way on the Race.
My heart constantly aches and also finds joy and love with each face I come across, whether it is the face of a little one whose stomach is expanded from malnutrition, or the face of a12 year old whose baby around her waist is her own, or the face of a woman whose wrinkles in her skin and deep eyes shouts to tell she has a story. Each of these faces need to hope and love that is only found in Christ.
Please join me in praying for these faces, that my team and I would be used as vessles to bring the hope and love that these countries desperately need. Pray that we would continue to stay healthy and safe. Pray that we would continue to allow God to mold us into new people and grow stronger as a team. Pray that we would continue to listen and be open to what God would have us do. The World Race is not always easy, but every sleepless night, every hundreds of bug bites, every homesick feeling, every weird food we have had to eat, and every tired heart is all worth it, for the faces for these countries and the glory of our Father. Pray that we never loose sight of this truth.
Thank you for all that you are to me: love, encouragement, truth, and family.
                             In Christ’s love,
                                  Alyssa
