There are currently 11 DAYS until I get on a plane and leave this crazy journey to go back home to America.  11 Months.  11 Countries. And now, 11 Days.  So as a way to wrap up my experiences on the World Race, I will be posting one blog each of these next 11 days.  Each blog will contain a list of 11 things, some funny and some more serious.  It has been quite a year, one that has changed my life, especially my relationship with Jesus.  I cannot wait to be able to share with you all in person in the coming months, but for now, enjoy these memories.

11 Things I Will Miss About The World Race

  1. Not having a set schedule every day
  2. Someone giving me money to buy food once a week
  3. Community! I will miss my squad mates and it will be very strange not being surrounded by such awesome people 24/7
  4. Doing adventurous things like swim at the top of the world’s largest waterfall and pet tigers
  5. Always having people to play cards with
  6. Worship with my team and squad
  7. It being acceptable to not shower or change clothes for 3-4 days at a time
  8. Things being cheaper around the world
  9. Living in and learning about different cultures every month
  10. Trying new foods
  11. Laughing at ridiculous things that happen every day when you live in the third world (i.e. hitchhiking in the back of an 18 wheeler to get to the next village)

P.S. For those of you wondering, my month in Zambia has been incredible!! My entire team is grateful that we were able to spend our last month with J-Zone and the wonderful family that runs the ministry.  Our first few days included a whole lot of pain and chaos as we were robbed one night after we had gone to bed and one of my teammates and an Adventures in Missions staff member who was visiting were attacked with machetes.  Thankfully, only material possessions were lost and everyone is recovering from their injuries.  For more on the incident, read any of these blogs by my teammates: Zach (my teammate that was attacked), Matt (the AIM staff member who was also attacked and sustained more serious injuries), or Karissa, or Melissa (both of whom shared their own perspective of what happened that night and the following day.)
