Today I got to meet two of the people I could potentially be spending nine months of my life with!
Meet Ryan and Cole!
I have spent hours on end getting to know these two over facetime and text, since we got accepted, but who would’ve known I’d get a chance to meet them in person! It was so surreal! when we first saw each other it was just a little awkward, but not even five minutes into walking to the beach it was like we had known each other forever!
While at the beach: the day was full of laughs, jokes, great food, warm weather, and awesome memories! What could be better right? Well… This is only the start of a year long adventure!

I have been somewhat nervous going into the race about being on a team full of people that I have never met, and I mean who wouldn’t be! After applying I was sure I wouldn’t be able to see my teammates until I was at training camp, which turned out to be false. Not only did I get to meet Ryan and Cole today, but one of the girls on my route, Drew, is coming to stay with me in Chicago in a few weeks! HOW EXCITING!

Participating in the Gap Year program has already challenged me in so many ways, meeting a team of fifty-five new people being one of them, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for my team and I!
