It was a cold day with freezing rain, no sun, and it didn’t help that we had just came from South America’s 90 degree weather. Currently residing in Romania, a peaceful place with hilly countrysides and, shocking to me, smiling faces (It is very hard for me to smile when it’s cold).

Spite the fact that we were extremely jet lagged and freezing to death we were up and ready to go by breakfast. I don’t remember breakfast or really anything that day at all, I may have been sleeping with my eyes open. If you never been jet lagged it’s an awful experience. Everyone is making you stay awake and they make you eat food we you aren’t hungry. Which food when you aren’t hungry, is appalling and then you wake up at 3am with your stomach growling feeling as if you don’t eat anything right now you will surely die.

It was a short time in Romania, only there a 2 and a half weeks to be exact and wanted to make the most of it. Our contacts continually poured into us. Even thought their lives were immensely packed full of family and trying to tell the world about Jesus, they took every opportunity they had to pray and speak life into us. One even took the time to write thank you notes to each of our parents for letting us come on the trip and for birthing amazing kids.

On our free day Raul (our main contact)  took us over to his parents house for lunch. And let me tell you we devoured it. His mother made us as much home made bread, eclairs, and cabbage rolls as we wanted. It was so good I couldn’t help but eat 12 eclairs and stuff the leftover bread in my pockets for later. The bread was even so good that I had to eat it even before we left the house.

I can’t express how much this couple blessed us that day. They welcomed us into their home and covered us with hugs even without being able to speak any English. Romania will always hold a special place in my heart because the people are simply amazing and haven’t met anyone like them throughout my travels. Forever they will be remembered.
