Pray all the time–Don't pray at all
Eat veggies with every meal–Eat veggies once a month
Pump iron everyday–Pump iron once a year (actually I think I've only ever talked about this one)
You know, it varies.
But just last month, I realized He really is FAITHFUL. He has:
never forgotten
never given up
always listened
ALWAYS REMAINED THE SAME
Listen to this:
I became friends with this girl at work (lets call her…Mary). I didn't become friends with her because I needed friends. I didn't become friends with her because I thought she could up my social status. I became friends with her because I wanted her to feel the joy, love, and peace that I have. I wanted her to have a purpose worth living for. I wanted her to see Jesus. Since day one, I've prayed every night for her. Where I'm on my knees crying my eyes out kind of praying. So naturally I invited her into my world. The world where instead of getting drunk every night we go to karaoke night and sing so badly that everyone just thinks we're drunk. The world where we pray for each other and help each other out. The world where we live for something greater than ourselves.
I'm pretty sure Mary was freaked out at first. But she started to come to church and I bought her a Bible. She saw something different in us and that God really was the most important. She kept on reading it, even read it more than I did. She was always frustrated and felt far from God. She felt worthless and didn't have a purpose. I forgot about one little thing. Okay, maybe a gigantic thing! I forgot to tell her about how you are supposed to invite Jesus into your heart!
Thank goodness I have great friends! My friend, Amy, reached out to her during church one day. To make a long story short… Mary excepted Jesus as her Saviour!!! Not only that but she told all of her friends and family! She pretty much even told her whole unit in the Army. Mary told me one day that she just couldn't keep quiet about it because she wants everyone to feel the way she feels.
Because of this it has given me the realization that God is in control. He remains faithful to us and hears our prayers. He had it planned the whole time that she would be in His arms. I can't be silent anymore.
I pray that this won't be a spurt and I have faith that it won't be. I encourage all of you, don't choose silence. There are so many people like Mary out there. Just waiting for someone to tell them.
So look out Columbus, OH. There are at least 2 of us not afraid to share.
