A Typical Day in Peru

7:40 Wake up late. I was supposed to have team time so we could say nice this to each other.

8:00 Team Time. We said nice things about each other

9:00 Leave for ministry at the dump. This is a lot later than normal. I guess that means this might not be a typical day.

10:00 arrived at the dump to find a monkey attack my head! This is how I knew this would be the greatest day of the World Race so far.

10:30 walked around where the people work. They separate the recyclables to get money. We prayed for families and invited the kids to the kids church and invited the women to learn how to make jewelry out of trash.

12:00 ate fried chicken and rice. Which is what we ate for almost every meal. I thought I would never get tired of it…

1:00 set up for the kids church. We decorated the wall with fishes.

3:00 church starts. We sing songs, have a skit, decorate fish and put the names of the people they want to tell about Jesus, and have snack time.

4:30 got teary eyed because these are some of the most precious kids and they live in the dump. Most of the time I don't even realized it smells bad or that there is trash everywhere because there is so much light here. We also play soccer on the field that we made of them.

5:30 leave in a hurry because we need to get back home at 7 because all the buses and taxis stop going there, it's unsafe.

6:30 still not on the bus. They were too full but half of our team left.

6:50 got on a taxi said he knew where we were going. none of us speak Spanish or have a international phone

7:30 taxi driver is lost and keeps telling us its too dangerous to take us home. So he drops us off at the mall. We only had enough money to get home. We had to tell the taxi driver we don't have enough money. So we ran away fast incase he wanted to shoot us.

8:00 still at the mall. trying to find someone to speak English. No one could understand where we needed to go. The place we are staying at has no name and is located on a road without a street name. We don't have AIM's emergency number or any leaders numbers.

9:00 still haven't got in contact with anyone. We have been at Starbucks trying to get phone numbers. AIM's emergency number wasn't working for us. But we were able to get in contact with Randy( our squad coach in the USA) through Facebook. We are forever thankful he loves social media!

10:00 Randy wasn't able to get in contact with anyone here either. We got our squad leaders phone numbers but they wouldn't work. We now only have 35% battery left on the iPhone and we can only communicate from wifi. So we proceed to find a Hostel for the night.

10:30  Eating Hamburgers and ice cream and using Starbucks Wifi when finally we get in contact with our squad leader in Peru!

11:00 They come pick us up from the mall and soon to be home at last!

Lessons Learned:
Don't travel without money
Always have phone numbers
Have written directions to get home
God is good
Without Starbuck's internet we would still be at the mall
As soon as I get home I'm finding out what needs to be done to purchase a monkey
