Here is the support letter that I wrote. It will be coming to many of you in the next couple weeks. If you want me to send you one, let me know! I can send it snail mail or via e-mail.
Take the time to watch the video at the bottom. It still gives me chills every time I watch it and reminds me why I am doing this.
Dear Family and Friends,
I am so excited to write and tell you about what God is doing in my life. As many of you know God moved me to Fredericksburg, VA to teach middle school two years ago. This has been a time of stretching and growing for me and I have learned a lot about myself. I have made great friends and God has given me an amazing church family with so many ministry opportunities daily. However, over the last six months, God has been intensely stirring my heart for overseas missions. Even just five years ago, I would have never dreamed that I would be sitting here writing this letter. Many of you are aware that in 2010, I went to the Dominican Republic and absolutely fell in love with the people that I met and the people that I served with. God has now given me the opportunity to once again go to the nations and be His hands and feet and simply love on people. So in July 2014, I will be leaving on an amazing journey called the World Race. I have felt God calling me to it since I returned from the DR, I just was not sure when I would be going and now the time is here and I am so excited.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip through Adventures in Missions where I will be living out of a backpack spending one month in each of the designated countries on my route. As of right now I will be travelling to Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. I will be travelling with a squad of about 50-60 other young adults to each country where we will split up into teams of 5-7 people to do ministry. The ministries in each country will vary as we team up with churches and ministries already there. Ministries could include, but are definitely not limited to construction, street ministry, door-to-door ministry, hospital visits, working at orphanages, teaching, working alongside women victims of sex trafficking, ministering to women in the red light districts, planting churches, and most importantly loving all the people that we come into contact with. I am so thankful for this opportunity that God has given me, and have every confidence that He will provide for my needs! Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you. I am writing to you to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in my ministry. I am looking for individuals who would be willing to be a part of my prayer team. If you think that this is you, you can contact me via my blog (see below) or e-mail me at [email protected]. I must also raise $16,285 in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses on the field. If 160 people pledge $10 a month for 10 months or if 50 people pledge $25 for 12 months I would be fully funded. Please do not feel constrained by these examples. They are to show how easy it is to give and how quickly you can help me reach my goal.
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 742570, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at : alyssaboyles.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed. (Please note that for one-time online donations, there is a 2-3% service fee). I am so excited to see how God will move in the coming year. Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. Know I am praying for you as well.
