I am Alyssa Boyles.

I grew up in Lockport, NY.  I went to Roberts Wesleyan College where I graduated with my degree in Adolescent Math Education in May 2011.

In October 2011, I moved to Fredericksburg, VA to take a teaching position in Stafford County.  I am currently a 7th grade math teacher (I know, some of you just cringed at that thought).  I absolutely love my job and I wouldn’t trade it for anything…well except to go on this journey.  My days are never dull and usually full of laughter because most times if I don’t laugh, I would probably cry.  I have been blessed to teach some amazing 12 and 13 year olds and they continually teach me life lessons.

In the summer of 2010, I had the privilege to serve in the Dominican Republic and that is when God really put the passion for overseas missions in my heart.  Ever since I returned from there, I have had a love for the nations. That is also when God started stirring my heart with the desire and passion to go on the World Race.

Just a few random facts…

I love driving with my music turned up, especially when the windows are down.

I don’t like coffee.

I love coffee dates (minus any coffee flavored drink) and long conversations about life.

Sunrises and sunsets never cease to amaze me.  They almost always stop me in my tracks.

I have 1 brother and 1 sister and I am the oldest.

I love song lyrics and quotes.

Pink gerbera daisies are my favorite flower.

I love to read, but find I have far too little time to do it.

There is almost nothing better than being in a room full of teenagers.  Even after a long day, it almost always energizes me.

Pink is my favorite color.

My favorite season by far is fall, although, living in Virginia has made me somewhat miss the large amounts of snow I grew up with.

"Disturb me Lord when my dreams come true only because I dreamed too small.
Disturb me Lord when I arrive safely only because I sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb me Lord when the things I have gained cause me to lose my thirst for You.
Disturb me Lord when I've acquired success only to disturb my desire for excellence.
Disturb me Lord when I give up too soon and settle too far short of the goals You have set for my life."
~Sir Francis Drake
